Welcome to the (pretty darn late) July 2021 edition of "collage art storytelling with tweets." about the technology industry’s reshuffling around the United States and the world post pandemic.
This episode chronicles the events of June 2021.
This guide in general will skew towards Miami (where I live currently) but also include Austin and Atlanta (where I also have lived and have knowledge of) among others.

Lead Tweet:
We're about to witness the greatest reshuffling of white collar workers in world history... right now going back to the offices is an idea for people far off in the future... when the real orders come in people are going to start QUITTING en masse.

In about eight hours, I’m on stage with the most innovative politician in America.
The Mayor of Miami, CEO of the City, Silicon Suarez himself.
We’ll talk about crypto, startup cities, the remote economy, and a positive-sum vision for the future.
Tune in at 10:05 ET!
Mayor Francis Suarez @FrancisSuarez
Several tech giants will be disrupted by remote work
What happened to companies that didn't adopt computers? Implement Software? Embrace the internet
Same thing happens to companies that don't embrace remote work

Buy Miami, short SF.
Or, if you believe in the turnaround, go long SF.
Citycoins will express people's faith in city policy. As does emigration. Vote with ballot, and now also with wallet and feet.

The Apple memo on remote work is a positive for everyone. It says what every suppressed and ostracized remote-capable worker is thinking.
"We just proved it worked."
A thread on why the 3-days-in-office-forced-hybrid approach is so polarizing 🧵👇
Want to see the future?
- Look at what @Benioff is doing at @salesforce
- Look at what @eldsjal is doing at @Spotify
Giving workers the flexibility they want is the only option
The prehistoric companies that don’t see this get crushed 🦕

We are moving the entire team down to Miami.
Both the folks who work on investments and content will be housed in the same building.
The game has changed and our goal is to pioneer a new way of operating in the digital world.

Miami tech asks "How can I help" earnestly and unironically, because it still can.
Some other tech communities are too jaded/WEIRD to ask "How can I help" without making fun of the concept.
Great piece by @KTmBoyle:

As well as the obvious new generation of startups enabling remote work, there will be another new generation doing things enabled *by* remote work.
Join us on @Clubhouse for the @RiseOfRest #TechTalentTour as we share our love & passion for the #MiamiTech community!

Deloitte going remote-first forever is far bigger than people realize
In one swoop they:
- forced McKinsey, Bain, BCG, PWC, KPMG & EY to be remote-first or lose all their best people to Deloitte
- established themselves as the best place for consultants to work
Jedi move 🧠

I love all these knuckleheads who moved to Miami five seconds ago bitching about techbros.
A displaced group giving the place a new spin IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE CITY.
If you want to import your foreign NIMBY faux-native narratives, the turnpike to Orlando is right there.

Remote Work Is the New Signing Bonus
"Whereas [at @gitlab], everybody really is remote,” Ms. Daliparthi says. "You know there’s nothing happening in the background, in-person somewhere."
